Capturing Lightning

The other evening a thunderstorm rolled through Southeast Michigan and I stepped outside before it began raining to try and capture an image of the lightning. While I would have loved to have something more interesting in the foreground, my neighborhood only offers so much and the lightning was mostly happening directly overhead. My best image is below. Settings were F8, 8 second exposure iso 400 Canon 5d mark iii with a 16-35 2.8 L IS USM version iii.
